Axians, the ICT brand of VINCI Energies, opened its newly constructed site in Gjakova in 2024. Since then, it has undergone dynamic development delivering international projects for customers in several Axians countries. Following a recent groundbreaking, Axians is expanding its premises for engineering services, 3D visualization, and training, with an additional new building for software development – particularly in the areas of AI and cybersecurity.

IT and engineering talents are working at the Axians Gjakova office and training center, which already covers approximately 1,400 square meters including indoor and outdoor facilities. In close cooperation with sister companies of VINCI Energies in Germany, Switzerland, and other countries, various complex infrastructure projects have been realized.
Axians has now taken another step toward its future goal of supporting its entire portfolio in the DACH & CEE region from Gjakova. The aim is to expand capacity with an additional building, and a groundbreaking ceremony has recently been celebrated. In addition to the existing engineering services, software development related to AI and cybersecurity will be strengthened here in close cooperation with the new Axians Campus in Pristina. The recent acquisitions by Axians in the DACH & CEE ICT perimeter (fernao Group in Germany and Switzerland, Strong IT in Austria) have created a further need for close cooperation due to high demand in the DACH region. The new building and new employees will transform the Axians site in Gjakova into a 360° competence center for Axians’ entire portfolio in DACH & CEE. This includes, for example, Agentic AI based on the Microsoft Copilot platform, proactive and reactive cybersecurity, managed security through SOC solutions, and AI-driven pentesting.
The Axians state-of-the-art facility in Gjakova is already an international hub for innovation, employee learning, collaboration and professional development. Training and qualification programs include technical training (splicing, laying and installation of fiber optic cables, civil engineering, distribution cabinets, surveying, 3D design), German language courses and trainings on elements of the VINCI Energies corporate culture (e.g. values, safety culture).
“With the expansion of our premises in Gjakova, we are responding to the high demand for support from our Axians countries in the DACH & CEE region. In addition to engineering services, 3D visualization, and training, we will now also strengthen our software development in the areas of AI and cybersecurity from Gjakova, alongside Pristina. Gjakova is thus becoming an international ICT 360° competence center,” comments Burim Mirakaj, CEO VINCI Energies DACH & CEE ICT, on the development to date.
The strategy around the competence center in Gjakova has been developed in exchange with Rozeta Hajdari, the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, and further high-ranking diplomatic representatives: Jörn Rohde, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kosovo and Olivier Guérot, Ambassador of the French Republic to Kosovo. Axians has been in close contact with these representatives for some time regarding its strategy and continuous investments in Kosovo. With the recent groundbreaking ceremonies for the expansion in Gjakova and its new flagship office, the “Axians Campus”, in Pristina, the ICT service provider is preparing for further growth with its team.

Rozeta Hajdari: “The expansion of Axians in Kosova – the Information and Communication Technology brand of VINCI Energies, through its expansion in Gjakova and its new Campus in Pristina, is unlocking the huge potential of our youth’s talent and creativity, exporting their professional services to the European market. Grateful for the dedicated engagement of Mr. Burim Mirakaj, CEO of VINCI Energies DACH & CEE ICT. Kosova offers a favorable business environment with the strongest improvements in investment policy and promotion, while positioning itself as a regional leader in trade policy (OECD Competitiveness Outlook Report 2024).”
Jörn Rohde: “I am delighted to have been present at the recent groundbreaking ceremony for the new Axians Campus in Pristina and earlier in Gjakova. We are already seeing excellent results from international projects carried out by Axians Kosovo together with its sister companies in Germany. The resulting added value and close ties between the German and Kosovar digital economies are very much in our interest.”
Olivier Guérot: “We greatly value our trusted cooperation with Axians, in particular through our joint scholarship scheme for promising students from Kosovo. I am confident that the Gjakova location together with new Pristina campus will make a lasting positive contribution to creating attractive IT jobs in Kosovo. We look forward to continuing this journey in dialogue with Axians, part of the French group VINCI.
In 2025, the first pre-training year also began with 10 trainees in telecommunications infrastructure installation. Ten young women are currently gaining career prospects as specialists in broadband expansion. As part of their training in Kosovo, they will also be deployed on a rotational basis to Axians construction sites in Germany, where they will reinforce local teams and gain practical experience. The young colleagues particularly appreciated the training in splicing work and Axians’ technical equipment, as shown in the video report (https://www.facebook.com/AxiansKs/videos/716272820861590 ). Axians also cooperates with educational institutions in the Gjakova region, thus offering school graduates direct career prospects. In addition, numerous international business delegations have visited the Axians training center and were impressed by the modern facilities, skills of the onsite team and the comprehensive training and development concept for talent in Kosovo.
The Axians team in Gjakova has already achieved considerable success in 3D visualization, infrastructure project planning, and digital twin development. Planners and 3D architects have created realistic construction visualizations of new offices, fire protection systems, school buildings, and electrical plans in Germany. These vivid digital twins make construction projects tangible and help secure project approvals or awards from decision-makers. The field is growing rapidly, as the team’s services are of the highest European standards. By integrating 3D development frameworks like Unity, their ability to visualize complex infrastructures supports one of the most in-demand trend. In addition, the collaboration within the Axians and VINCI Energies network has led to many successful projects.
