Axians, the ICT brand of VINCI Energies, opened its newly constructed site in Gjakova in 2024. Since then, it has undergone dynamic development delivering international projects for customers in several Axians countries. Following a recent groundbreaking, Axians is expanding its premises for engineering services, 3D visualization, and training, with an additional new building for software development – particularly in the areas of AI and cybersecurity.
IT and engineering talents are working at the Axians Gjakova office and training center, which already covers approximately 1,400 square meters including indoor and outdoor facilities. In close cooperation with sister companies of VINCI Energies in Germany, Switzerland, and other countries, various complex infrastructure projects have been realized.
Axians has now taken another step toward its future goal of supporting its entire portfolio in the DACH & CEE region from Gjakova. The aim is to expand capacity with an additional building, and a groundbreaking ceremony has recently been celebrated. In addition to the existing engineering services, software development related to AI and cybersecurity will be strengthened here in close cooperation with the new Axians Campus in Pristina. The recent acquisitions by Axians in the DACH & CEE ICT perimeter (fernao Group in Germany and Switzerland, Strong IT in Austria) have created a further need for close cooperation due to high demand in the DACH region. The new building and new employees will transform the Axians site in Gjakova into a 360° competence center for Axians’ entire portfolio in DACH & CEE. This includes, for example, Agentic AI based on the Microsoft Copilot platform, proactive and reactive cybersecurity, managed security through SOC solutions, and AI-driven pentesting.
The Axians state-of-the-art facility in Gjakova is already an international hub for innovation, employee learning, collaboration and professional development. Training and qualification programs include technical training (splicing, laying and installation of fiber optic cables, civil engineering, distribution cabinets, surveying, 3D design), German language courses and trainings on elements of the VINCI Energies corporate culture (e.g. values, safety culture).
“With the expansion of our premises in Gjakova, we are responding to the high demand for support from our Axians countries in the DACH & CEE region. In addition to engineering services, 3D visualization, and training, we will now also strengthen our software development in the areas of AI and cybersecurity from Gjakova, alongside Pristina. Gjakova is thus becoming an international ICT 360° competence center,” comments Burim Mirakaj, CEO VINCI Energies DACH & CEE ICT, on the development to date.
The strategy around the competence center in Gjakova has been developed in exchange with Rozeta Hajdari, the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, and further high-ranking diplomatic representatives: Jörn Rohde, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kosovo and Olivier Guérot, Ambassador of the French Republic to Kosovo. Axians has been in close contact with these representatives for some time regarding its strategy and continuous investments in Kosovo. With the recent groundbreaking ceremonies for the expansion in Gjakova and its new flagship office, the “Axians Campus”, in Pristina, the ICT service provider is preparing for further growth with its team.
